Recovery program again beginning arose from a commitment to help drug users and their families recover from drug addiction. Fresh Start is focused on detoxification and the development of a lifestyle free of drugs.
Fresh Start founder Dr. George O'Neil made his first addiction treatment in 1997. Dr. O'Neil was motivated to help the community with their addiction problems, while working as an obstetrician. He would deliver the babies of mothers addicted to heroin and see their babies born with addiction later suffer through withdrawal in the nursery. The final event that hardened determination and action was prompted when a patient asked for help her husband with their addiction problems so his family could be happy together.
Although initially only from a private more patient and more patients they were arriving after hearing Dr. O'Neil through word of mouth. As demand grew for the treatment Dr. O'Neil established a clinic that eventually became the program Fresh Start Recovery today. Now with the clinic Subiaco, Recovery Center Northam, and recovery houses spread throughout the metropolitan area Fresh Start has grown into a comprehensive treatment program with Christian values and a dedication to treat anyone in need.
Our approach to helping people with addictions is based on a recovery model that emphasizes the importance of intervention based on medical evidence, strong relationships, a stable family life and empowering people to take a responsible role in their community. Our approach to helping people with addictions is known as the Phree model. Physiology, Housing, Relationships, Empowerment and Exit.
Through our unique and comprehensive approach to addiction treatment that have helped more than 9,000 people and their families out of the vicious cycle of addiction.
Our patients go through several stages of recovery and their housing needs can change at each stage. In the first days after starting treatment it is strongly recommended that our clients are our Fresh Start Recovery House where they can receive supervision during withdrawal. After we move customers to our homes there evaluation and invite you to spend one of our rehab centers or refer them to other rehabilitation program, as appropriate. We believe that providing these residential centers helps our customers prevent relapse into drug use.
In the short term safe environment. -Clock care and medical assistance is available to those in the acute phases of detoxification and recovery
A stable environment for our customers who are considering longer-term residential options. Allows them to be monitored, medicated when necessary and evaluated for further rehabilitation. We have houses for men, women and mothers with young children.
The Recovery Center Fresh Start is located in Northam about 100 kilometers east of Perth.
Northam is a regional center with a number of community health and social services. It is intended as WA 'Supertown', which means it is a growing community.
After about six months in rehabilitation our customers are usually to move to one of our halfway houses' designed for people in the later stages of recovery to help them find independent housing and sustainable employment. Alternatively, if you have access to stable housing, they are encouraged to return home.
